The junior first baseman was 0-for-4 with three consecutive strikeouts. Marcel Champagnie pinch-hit for Davis in the eighth, and Brett Wallace moved over from third base to play first in the ninth. Wallace was the first baseman last season. Davis' availability for the remainder of the weekend is uncertain. He sat out the second game before returning to hit a home run and pitch 3.1 innings in the Oregon State finale. Davis is a national Player of the Year candidate and leads the No. 4-ranked Sun Devils in most offensive categories including average (.401), home runs (15), RBI (62), doubles (21) and slugging percentage (.822). On the mound, he is 4-1 with a 2.66 ERA and 4 saves in 13 appearances. Mike Leake became the ninth pitcher to win 20 games in his second season at ASU.
